Dearest Baby Bug,
You’re not a baby anymore (and you often remind us). I can’t even begin to believe you have already been with us for 4 years. HOW did that happen? Before you came around, I thought one little brother was plenty…but then you were born and there really are no words to describe the joy, silliness, and happiness you have brought us in the past 4 years!
You were so precious in every way, and you still are. You’re a charmer (sometimes to a fault). No matter how much you’d scream and throw fits, as soon as your little eyes closed, you became the sweetest little angel.
You were a chunker from the start (Peanut has always been such a teeny thing, so even though she is 3 years older than you, you’ve always dwarfed her). Where Peanut is our beautiful brown eyed girl, you have always had the most wonderful blue eyes right above those adorably chubby cheeks.
I LOVE your silliness so much. You’ve had an amazing sense of humor since the beginning and I absolutely adore that about you. Peanut wants so badly to be the in charge big sister, and sometimes you let her, but most of the time you act like to be a typical little brother and bother her as much as possible.
As I’ve stated, you’ve always been much bigger than Peanut, and you used to LOVE to just sit on her in just a way that she couldn’t move. She’d scream and yell and try to push you off, yet you’d pull the “dead weight” defense and smother her. Not nice, Bug…but your stubbornness is just too funny. We may want to be mad at you, but at the same time, you make it so hard not to laugh at your silly antics!
Whenever you’re in trouble, you have a bag of tricks you like to pull out to avoid time outs. First and foremost, you run away whenever you think you may possibly be in trouble. When that doesn’t work, you REFUSE to look anyone in the eye. You cross your little arms over your chest and stare straight at the ground, occasionally glancing up out of the very tops of your eyes to see if we are still here and still mad. The other day you were refusing to listen and I told you to look at me, you said “No.” and stared at the ground. When I said, slightly sterner, “Bug, look at me now!”, your reply (still with your head down and arms crossed), was “I AM! I lookin at you feet!”. At that I couldn’t help but let out a small laugh…you are too clever sometimes! It’s pretty entertaining for the rest of us to watch you give your mother such a fit ;-)
When your crossed arms, stare down approach doesn’t work, you will look up, yet keep your eyes as tightly closed as possible. If that doesn’t work you resort to the ever preciously adorable, “but…but…but…you’re GORGEOUS!”. Don’t ever forget that sometimes flattery will get you somewhere (as will those blue eyes and sweet smile). If this still doesn’t work and you are forced to the timeout chair, you will yell across the room, “I JUST LOVE YOU! I NEED YOU!!! I MIS YOU!!!”. Eventually you will give in and do your time; you always say you’re sorry, and you always finish with a hug and a kiss. And I love you for that. Even when it’s not at the right time, your persistence, creativity, and willingness to apologize and make things right in the end are qualities I hope you never lose.
You’re quite the ladies man and currently have an older girlfriend named Sabrina. I don’t think she knows she’s your girlfriend but about a year ago you decided she was and that was that. Every time you say her name, you smile as you say “sa-BEEEN-ah”.
And I mean, she’s a lucky girl. You’re quite the stud! You love to tell girls they are “goooorgeous”. Sometimes out of nowhere, you will just look at someone and say, “Oh my gosh, you so gorgeous!”. It makes that person’s day, my love. You have a way of knowing when someone just needs a hug and a compliment. Don’t ever lose that.
You also love to watch sports with the boys even though you have absolutely no idea what’s going on. Right now, you just love to hang out with the big boys, no matter what they are doing and you will copy and mimic everything they do. Which reminds me, you’ve learned the “Mimic Game” and it is your current favorite game…MAN you are persistent!
No matter how much of a big boy are you right now, you still love to hold hands and cuddle and it makes us all soooo very happy when you do.
And you remain the silliest little guy out there and LOVE to make silly faces at the camera. If you ever catch someone taking a picture of Peanut, you get jealous and insist on having your picture taken as well.
You love PeppeaPig, Max and Ruby, Bubble Guppies, and anything Mario. And you absolutely love to sing. Your current favorite songs are “This Girl is on Fire” (which you will belt at the top of your little lungs), “I Don’t Care [I Love it]“, and “Gagnum Style”, you break out into the dance quite often.
Bug, you are no longer a baby, but you will always be the baby of this family. We have an interesting family set up that many don’t understand. You may not be my biological brother, but you and Peanut couldn’t be any more like my baby siblings if you were. You and Peanut tell people Jamie and I are your big brother and sister which gets us some interesting side looks, but I have never corrected you, and never will. In technicality, you may be my godkids, but you are both part of my being, part of my soul, and part of my heart. I love you more than words can say. I am thankful for every second I’ve had and will have with you and watching you grow over the past 4 years has been one of the many joys of my life. You now have new cousins in your life and I think you really enjoy having some more boys around. I love your belly laugh, your silly faces, and even your temper tantrums. You are at a point right now where you are truly testing your limits in everything. Just know that your momma and all of us who loves you want nothing but the best for you and sometimes that means telling you no or making you do something you don’t want. You are starting to really think for yourself and develop into a little person; you are figuring out what you like and don’t like, what you believe in, and what makes you happy…never stop doing that…never stop growing (although you don’t have to do it so fast!).
Love you baby boy! To the moon and back,
